Employability Skills

This programme aims to develop a range of employability skills that are used by project teams in industry, these include: problem solving, communication, IT, and teamwork. The latter being the main focus of this project where cooperation, collaboration, responsibility, decision making, risk taking, creativity, determination, perseverance, working under pressure to deadlines and performance parameters, are major student development targets of the programme.

The industrial context is emphasised throughout the programme and to assist with this employers are engaged to illustrate this context. Students engage in one-day team building activities using problem solving and robotics as the delivery mode. These involve students in; allocation of roles, development of team identity, self tutoring on computer programming, development and assembly of robot (requiring the ability to follow instructions), research of the context of the problem and a presentation.
